The project was funded by two major German organizations, “Brot für die Welt” and “Hilfe für Brüder”. Two experienced professional English Language Teachers (with a total of 45 years of combined experience) took over the implementation of the project, each teaching 20 hours/week. The beneficiaries who participated were divided into 9 groups according to age and cognitive level. Each section consisted of approximately 8-10 people.
What started as an educational programme for English language teaching grew into much more
The school became an educational community where students could learn and interact with their peers in a safe, fun and educational environment. The school helped families and individuals gain confidence and education by learning a new language while equipping them for their future.
From August 2017 to May 2018
PERICHORESIS carried out a full English language learning programme for refugees of the Housing & Integration programmes in Katerini. Together with our partners we developed a five-year accommodation & integration project that facilitates empowerment and social inclusion, while supporting locals to become financially self-sufficient by the end of the five-year project. The project works with a holistic and long-term approach and helps families with asylum status to integrate into the framework of the city of Katerini.
