The fundamental goals of promoting solidarity, volunteerism, inclusion and a holistic approach to supporting those in need, as set by Perichoresis, are realized through established projects.
FOOD BANK PROJECT
COMMUNITY FOOD BANK BUILDING
COMMUNITY CLOTHING BANK
At the same place we have organized a clothing and footwear bank with FREE distribution of clothes for all ages, shoes, blankets, towels, school supplies and toys for children.
The Food Bank was established in 2012 by the Greek Evangelical Church of Katerini
in response to the ever increasing needs of the local population due to the ongoing financial crisis. A handful of volunteers from the church worked tirelessly in order to bring the Food Bank into existence and ensure its operation. These were the same individuals who traveled to Idomeni again and again, and ultimately envisioned the establishment of Perichoresis. Since October 2016, the management of the Food Bank has been undertaken by Perichoresis.
The Food Bank continues to support the local population, Greek citizens and economic migrants alike without discrimination. About 160 local families are beneficiaries of food, clothing, personal hygiene supplies, blankets, and more. In certain cases, the monthly rent and utilities for impoverished families are paid for by the Food Bank.
How it started …
In March 2012, the Greek Evangelical Church of Katerini responded to the financial crisis with the establishment of the Community Food Bank.
Our aim is to meet the basic needs of needy people and families, the unemployed, the homeless, the elderly and immigrants.
In the Community Food Bank we offer completely FREE basic food items, personal hygiene items, detergents, frozen products, fruits, vegetables, eggs, bread etc.
COMMUNITY FOOD BANK PROJECT
The Community Food Bank has been welcomed by everyone in the local community who see it as evidence of an active Evangelical community towards to 170 families.
